PROACTIVE MONITORING AND ALERTING

With the progression of the Information Age, companies are investing more into technology to become efficient and maintain an advantage in today’s extremely competitive economy. As processes become more automated and the adaptation and utilization of technology increases, it is more important than ever to maximize reliability and availability of these critical information systems.

The traditional, reactive approach is no longer enough to keep up with the complexity and importance of today’s systems. Preventative maintenance, while still a critical and recommended practice, still doesn’t meet the needs of most companies who heavily rely on their technology investments. Proactive Monitoring and Alerting, a managed service offered by Innovative, Inc., provides real-time monitoring and alerting of critical components of your network.

Our data center is able to monitor a wide range of hardware and software components, ranging from server and workstation hardware such as component failure, temperature, memory utilization, disk space and other performance indicators, to software components such as database, mail, print, file, backup, and antivirus services. We can also monitor a range of local and wide network elements such as firewalls, managed switches, wireless access points and controllers, and critical printers. When a problem is detected by our monitoring system, the alerting system automatically issues a detailed service ticket to our help desk, where action is taken based on the severity of the issue. If you have internal IT staff, our system can be configured to alert both internal staff and our help desk when issues arise. Often, our team of certified technicians and engineers are able to resolve the issue remotely from our datacenter. If an onsite visit is required, it will be scheduled accordingly.

By taking a proactive versus reactive approach, our team of technicians and engineers are alerted to specific technical issues when they actually occur, not when a user or group of users experiences a system problem. Issue remediation and repair costs are minimized because the troubleshooting process is streamlined. Our system pinpoints the issue to the specific part or service having the issue, resulting in less downtime and disruption to the organization. With our Proactive Monitoring and Alerting service, information technology costs are minimized, and performance and uptime are maximized.

ONLINE BACKUP

Backing up critical data on workstations and servers is crucial in any company’s technology operation. Not only must a company back up their data on a regular basis, but they also need to make sure a routine offsite strategy is in place in the event of a fire, flood, or other event that could damage critical system components. Data must be protected in a way that meets government compliance regarding data security, such as PCI and HIPAA, as well as the organizational goals of maintaining intellectual property and other proprietary information. This makes inexpensive and unreliable external hard drives, flash drives, and DVD’s a poor choice for reliable data backups. Online Backups, another managed service provided by Innovative, Inc., gives customers peace of mind with secure, offsite, nightly backups without the large capital investments and ongoing maintenance usually required for tape drive hardware, software, and other types of traditional backup methods. Innovative, Inc. houses online backup storage at our Hagerstown, MD datacenter, which is managed by the same trusted team of technicians, engineers, and professionals for more than 150 local businesses.

Large file repositories of 25GB or more can often take more than 36 hours to restore over the typical Cable or DSL broadband connection. Since backups are really “all about the restore,” having a local data center can drastically reduce the amount of time required to restore files in the event of a partial or total system failure. If a large amount of data is needed from your online backups, an experienced technician will arrive onsite with a copy of your data to begin the restoration process.
